Nunu ("we", "us", "our") is a motherhood companion app. We take your privacy seriously — especially because you're sharing information about yourself and your baby. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What data we collect

When you use Nunu, we may collect the following:

Account information — your email address (used for account creation and login)
Baby profile — your baby's name and date of birth (to personalise age-appropriate guidance)
Sleep logs — nap times, morning wake times, bedtimes, and night wakes that you manually log
Mood entries — optional mood check-ins you complete within the app
Chat conversations — messages you send to Nunu's AI assistant
Saved recipes — recipe bookmarks you choose to save
App settings and preferences

We do not collect payment information directly. Subscriptions are handled by Apple (App Store).

2. How we use your data

We use your data to:

Provide personalised sleep schedules and wake window suggestions based on your baby's age
Generate AI chat responses tailored to your baby's current sleep context
Show you sleep analytics and trends over time
Save your preferences across devices (when logged in)

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. AI and OpenAI

Nunu's chat assistant is powered by OpenAI's GPT-4o model. When you send a message to Nunu:

Your message and relevant context (baby age, today's sleep data) are sent to OpenAI's API
OpenAI processes this to generate a response
We do not use your conversations to train AI models
OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for safety monitoring per their API data policy

4. Data storage

Cloud storage — your account data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted in the EU
Local storage — sleep logs and app state are also cached on your device for offline access
Encryption in transit — all data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS

5. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.

6. How to delete your data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app:

Settings → Delete Account

This permanently removes your account, baby profile, sleep logs, mood entries, and chat history from our servers.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are based in the UK or EU, you have the following rights:

Right of access — request a copy of your personal data
Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data
Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
Right to portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests

8. Children's privacy

Nunu is designed for use by parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Baby profile data (name and birthdate) is provided by the parent and is used solely to personalise age-appropriate content.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
